DREAM BIG SPORTS ACADEMY
The focus of the Dream Big Leadership Academy is to positively impact the lives of young athletes through character development curriculum, constructed using the fundamental principles of all sports, which includes self-discipline, fair play, willingness to learn, master new skills, and create positive experiences valuable for achieving long-term success. Participants will discover and explore their own leadership qualities through formal and informal group activities. Activities shall include group fitness training, health and wellness education, academic readiness, and discovery of identifiable career pathways.
The academy will provide learning opportunities for student athletes to gain valuable knowledge and experience in how to train to become premier athletes; academically focused students; gain career exposure; and learn how to become productive leaders in their respective communities. In addition, this program is designed to expose student athletes to multiple career paths and opportunities. Participants will be introduced to industry leaders, who will share their incredible journeys of success and leadership. Students will engage in a discovery process which will help them understand and learn what skills they need to possess to become effective leaders in industry, community, and athletics.

To make this component relative and dynamic, Dream BIG Sports Academy, Inc., will call on local community professionals to volunteer their time and expertise to share their life story of how and what inspired and motivated them to become professionals and leaders in the community with our registered campers. Professionals within the community will play a pivotal role in facilitating the Dream Big Leadership Curriculum.
Facilitators will be provided with a “how to manual,” outlining the presentation format for delivering the Leadership Curriculum. Facilitators will be pre-assigned a specific topic from our character development chart for their presentation. In addition, the student-athletes will have their own workbook for taking notes. Questions and answers will be discussed during each group session. Each session will last for approximately 30 – 45 minutes.
Career Training and Live Demonstrations
This program is designed to expose student-athletes to multiple career paths and opportunities. Participants will be introduced to various industry leaders, who will share their incredible journeys of success and leadership. Students will engage in a discovery process which will help them understand and learn what skills they need to possess to become effective leaders in industry, community, and athletics.
Some young people struggle with a lack of self-image, self-esteem and self-confidence, which are all destructive character traits that will ultimately lead to a decrease in social, educational and career opportunities. Not only do these traits become negative behaviors, but often are “dream killers.” Through our mentorship component, we seek to stay involved in the lives of our participants with the goal of long-term change through consistent and intentional mentoring relationships.
College and Career Counseling
Dream Big Sports Academy is not just another sports training company. We seek to impact the total student-athlete by not only helping them in their athletic pursuits, but also through leadership/character development and academic/career counseling. Speed, Agility and Core Training
Speed training is a form of performance training that is geared towards conditioning the neuromuscular system to improve the firing patterns of fast twitch muscle fibers. This kind of training is divided into two: assisted speed training and resisted speed training. For optimum performance, athletes must learn to operate efficiently with no wasted movement. To achieve this goal, athletes must develop their core for stability and balance. The core includes the mid- section of the body from the quad to the upper torso and back muscles. To teach the body how to work in unison and fire with optimal power, agility training must be incorporated into the athletes speed regiment. In sports, athletes are required to change directions, accelerate, decelerate and be able to react at all times to different situations in their sporting event. Training teaches them to do these things more efficiently, which decreases the amount of time it takes to perform such activities. As a result, they are able to maneuver around their play field at a higher level and perform better in their sport.
Agility training also improves the performance of non-athletes, when faced with situations where required to react, such as correcting and maintaining balance when faced with varying walking surfaces. Individuals can perform their day-to-day activities such as mowing the lawn or playing with a child at a higher level and more efficiently when they participate in agility training.
